The Quiet Power of Inner Knowing

Updated: Aug 24

In these noisy times, when the world feels turbulent and uncertain, it’s easy to lose touch with our true voice. I know this because I’ve been there too – doubting what I felt, frantically searching outside myself for answers – reading one more article, scrolling through one more feed, looking for the perfect podcast, asking others for their opinions. While these avenues have their place, the deeper wisdom we’re seeking is already within us, waiting quietly to be heard – the quiet power of our inner knowing.

Listening Beneath the Noise

For a big part of my life, I painfully questioned every decision I made – ignoring my gut feelings in an effort to meet others’ expectations. This left me exhausted and unsure of who I really was. It took time, hard lessons, and deep personal growth to learn how to pause, listen, and trust my heart and wise inner knowing. Clients often ask me: “Everyone is telling me what I should do. Even though it doesn’t feel true for me, they must be right…right?” “I’m a reverse weathervane for success. I listen but keep messing up. Why should I trust myself?” “I have no idea how to stop long enough to listen. I’m too busy surviving!” Through my own journey, what I know with all my heart is that beneath the noise and ongoing chatter in  our heads is an invitation to return to a quiet stillness that lives inside. Each of us has this place – what I call a wellspring. A wellspring of wisdom that guides us with steadiness and grace. We forget it sometimes, especially when fear and urgency take over. But it is always there, beneath the chaotic waves of thoughts and emotions, offering guidance like a still pool reflecting the truth.

How Do We Connect with This Quiet Knowing?

In our work together, I will guide you inward to connect with this quiet knowing. What may surprise you is how familiar this place can feel – like a loving inner guide, always waiting to support you. Here are a few simple things I do most mornings to stay close to my quiet inner knowing:

  • I greet the new day with a few conscious breaths and gentle stretches.

  • Placing my hand over my heart, I affirm:

    • Today, I move through my day with resilience, grace and ease.

    • I give lovingly and receive  graciously.

    • I trust the quiet power of my inner knowing.

  • I write in my journal any reflections that arise. Writing also helps me process difficult emotions. I may write what I call “My Three Daily’s”:

    • 3 things I acknowledge myself for.

    • 3 things I’m grateful for.

    • 3 ways I can make my day more meaningful or joyful.

Your quiet knowing may come as a whisper or a shout, in a dream, on a walk, through words you read, or a song that suddenly speaks to you. You will know it because a feeling of calm and peace will come over you.

These small practices are not escapes from life’s challenges; they are ways to meet them with clear presence. They reconnect you to an inner steadiness that says, “I can trust myself, even here.”

Invitation

If you’re longing to reconnect with this quiet power within you – to meet fear, grief, or any life challenge with more ease – this is the heart of my work. In our sessions, I will help you identify and strengthen your inner resources, cultivating them as daily practices so you can move through life with greater confidence, clarity  and peace.

Today, I invite you to pause and listen within – even if only for one breath. You may be surprised by the wisdom waiting there.

Warmly,

Jillian Hopkins, MA
